As technology advances, we start to see new and exciting things that some of us would have never dreamed. But something called the “smart” home is a concept that has been around for quite some time now and in the past few years it has started to take off.  Most homes today weren’t built to be smart, so if we want to turn our “dumb” home into a smart one, we will have to purchase some tech to do the job! First off you’ll have to decide which smart home platform to go with and if you use Apple products then the obvious platform to choose would be HomeKit.

ConnectSense Smart OutletMany products today support HomeKit, everything from light bulbs to deadbolts for your front door. But what if you have something that you want to control from your phone, but it lacks compatibility with HomeKit? This is where the ConnectSense comes in.

The ConnectSense is a smart outlet that lets you plug in your devices that do not support HomeKit and still control them from your phone. Its pretty much like an adapter to turn anything into a “smart” object.  It consists of two outlets, one USB 2.4a port (for charging) and LEDs on the front. These LEDs let you know that the switch is active and working and you can actually dim or brighten them inside the app.  The ConnectSense smart outlet connects via wifi to your phone and if you want to control your smart products away from home you can do so using an Apple TV!

SiriAnd that’s not even the best part.  You can actually use Siri to turn anything plugged into the ConnectSense on or off!  I’m pretty sure I don’t need to tell you why this is extremely helpful, but just in case you need to know – imagine yourself sitting in your favorite chair and you just got comfortable, but then you remember that you forgot to turn on the humidifier. Not to worry, the ConnectSense has your back.

Setting up the ConnectSense is super easy and it’s a very smooth experience.  The ConnectSense comes with an app which makes organizing your HomeKit products very quick and simple – the user interface is intuitive. Not only can you keep your ConnectSense devices saved within the app, but you can also use the app as a hub for all of your existing HomeKit devices. Within the app you can change the name and icon of the products you have plugged into the ConnectSense, so keeping things organized shouldn’t be an issue.

CS App DevicesCustomization is definitely something that the application isn’t lacking. You can do everything from setting up and controlling multiple smart homes to diving deep into each individual room. You can even setup scenes that execute certain actions when selected. For example you could create the scene “Goodnight” – you could program it to turn off all the lights in the house when launched.  What if you want your bedroom lamp to turn on 5 minutes before you wake up? Well the ConnectSense can do that too.  Using the app you can program each outlet to activate at any specific time during the day. The ConnectSense app can do so much more and if you’re interested in seeing more, make sure to check out the video above.

The ConnectSense offers an easy way to transform your “dumb” house into a smart house! The system is easy to learn and has tons of functions you won’t see on many other HomeKit hub systems.
