Last year, the TCL owned company Alcatel caught lots of attention when they introduced the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 because of its reversible display and some other features that other phones did not have at the time. This year at MWC 2016, Alcatel introduced their next generation to the Idol 3 and that is the Idol 4 and its more premium model the Idol 4S.
Now both phones are powered by octa core processors from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 617 for the Idol 4 and Snapdragon 652 for the 4S(which both are very alike so the performance should be similar on both of them). The Idol 3 had a full HD IPS liquid crystal display, but the Idol 4 and 4s are equipped with an AMOLED screen features 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution.
Just like the Idol 3 from last year, this year the Idol 4 and 4s are also equipped with 3.6watt JBL speakers. The Idol 4 comes in a 16gb variant whereas the Idol 4s has double the amount of that and has 32gb of storage, but that should not be a big issue since both phones are equipped with a MicroSD card slot.
Moving over to the camera, the Idol 4 has a 13MP camera with video capture capabilities of 1080p Full HD. On the other side, the Idol 4S has a 16MP camera and had the capability to record in 4K resolution or 1080p 60 Frames-Per-Second. The Idol 4 has a 2610 mAh battery compared to the 4s which has a 3000mAh battery. The 2 devices will ship in four colors: Metal Silver, Dark Gray, Rose Gold, and Gold, it the Idol 4 will be retailing for $250 and Idol 4S for $400.
From the specs sheet and look wise the phone does sound very promising overall but you never know until you have used it in person. I will try to get my hands on this phone to let everyone know my thoughts on this phone and will also post a video on it and on more stuff on my YouTube Channel.
