If you’re like me, then you have been in a crowded parking lot exasperatingly searching for your car. My first instinct is to set off the car alarm. And I’m in good company; invariably there are others doing the same thing, which sadly brings me only a step or two closer to finding my car, or sometimes someone else’s. You’d think we’d learn, but we don’t, so when a company contacted me with news their product would put an end to this infuriating recurrence – and improve many other aspects of technology within my car – they had my attention.
This is my review of the Zus Smart Car Charger, a product I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who drives a car.
First I will turn your attention to the many great features outside the tracking genius, that make the 35 dollar price tag worth it. The first, and most underrated feature in my opinion, is the fast charging. This charger provides twice the charging speed of an average car charger, with the ability to charge two power hungry devices, like Apple’s iPad, simultaneously, and at full speed. You read that right.
The Zus also boasts a military grade build. Now I can’t test the durability to that extent, but I have dropped it a few times, and it looks as good as the day I got it. The build houses all the electronics which also includes “Elegant Shine Lighting,” a feature that I miss when using other car chargers. This charger illuminates its surrounding area, which means plugging in cables in the dark is very easy.
By themselves, those features make this a worthwhile purchase, but the standout feature of the product is the car locater, and the app that goes with it.
The Zus and the app pair via bluetooth, and the app is available on both IOS and Android. Once it was set up it worked seamlessly – no glitches or latency.
When you log in, the application shows how far the car is and in which direction, and as the user starts to walk closer to their car, the app adjusts itself. I found it is accurate up until about 10 to 15 feet away.
Say goodbye to the costly punishments of tickets and towing – this charger includes a timer that notifies you a few minutes before your parking meter is up.
Overall the app works seamlessly with the ZUS, and although I had occasional connection failures, I would say if you drive a car, then this product is a must buy for everything it offers. Even if you don’t use the tracking feature, which I assure you, you will, the fast charging, durable build, and accent white lighting are enough to justify the 35 dollar price tag.
