Starting today, the Nextbit Robin is available on Amazon for $299 up until the 10th of May. Originally selling for $399, the $100 discount makes the phone available for the same price as when it was first launched on KickStarter in the Mint variant. The phone may be something worth considering at this price especially after the substantial software update it received last week which included enhancements to battery, camera and overall performance.
The specifications the Nextbit Robin packs for the price makes this device a great budget option. It packs a 5.2′ 1080p IPS LCD covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 4 making it handle a few drops and tumbles that come with daily use. The screen is great to consume media on especially with dual front-facing speakers and amplifiers. The Robin’s overall footprint remains relatively compact with that screen size which may be the preferred size for many consumers, myself included.
The rear sports and 13MP camera featuring phase detection auto-focus and a dual-tone flash for capturing important moments in your life.. The selfie camera at 5MP is also plenty to get the job done.
Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM that is more than enough to get through most tasks. Even though budget, Nextbit have also included a fingerprint scanner on the device for added security, making the phone a great option both in terms of software and hardware.
The Robin besides these specifications is also unique due to its storage options. Coming with 16GB of default on-board storage, the phone is able to utilize the cloud to its maximum capacity. Combining cloud and internal storage allows the smartphone to never run out of storage space. Applications one uses on a regular basis are stored within the internal storage of the smartphone while those used less frequently on the cloud. It is up to the consumer however, to customize this feature and control how much access to data the cloud is allowed to.
The deal is limited in time as mentioned so if you are looking to pick up a Nextbit Robin for yourself, make sure you head here. You can either get the Mint or the Midnight Blue variant but if you want that choice, you may want to make up your mind fast as stocks are limited. Either way, if you are planning to pick one up or have managed to do so, definitely share your thoughts in the comments section below.
